Week 19: an average kind of week this week, managing to get just shy of 86 miles covered, which was better than last week I suppose?
Shelli and I had a great walk along the Thames path on Saturday, walking from Reading to Marlow, which helped with the overall mileage for the week. The only problem was I completely forgot to put my knee supports on when we went out and – as expected – my left knee caused me a little bit of a problem. Thankfully it waited until we’d reached Marlow before it started to scream at me so that was good.
My next running event is under two weeks away now – the Bupa London 10K. I got my running number and timing chip through in the post today so I’d better make sure my knee is properly sorted out, meaning some gentle runs this coming week.
I’ve got just under 117 miles to go to hit my first target for the year: 2012 miles in 2012. With my knee requiring some rest I suspect I won’t hit that target this week, especially having the girls at the weekend, but worst case I’ll definitely hit it some time next week, which is just incredible!
It’s hard to believe that I’m almost half way through my total mileage target of 4012 miles already. I’m nearly at the half way mark for my walking target and I’ve just broken through half way on my cycling target! Where’s that time gone?!
Here are the scores on the doors for this week:

Sponsor Me Please!
Don’t forget, you can get to my fundraising page at the following location:

The page will be live throughout my challenge this year (and a couple of months after) so please, when you can, give a few pounds to help some very worthy charities.
Why not do like my good mate Stu’s doing? He’s sponsoring me 2p a mile – which is amazingly generous, thanks Stu! You don’t have to pledge that much; 1p, 1/2p, 1/10p…it’ll all add up considering I’ll be covering at least 4012 miles this year!
Thanks. It means a lot and is very much appreciated.
I forgot to add that I’ve signed up to another challenge to help me hit the targets I’ve set as part of this challenge.
I’ve signed up to take part in The Longest Day Run. This is a challenge that runs from midday on the 23rd June to midday on the 24th June and in that 24 hour period you’ve got to try and run as many miles as you can…simples. It doesn’t have to be non-stop, which is a good thing, but just run as often and as far as you can over the 24 hours.
I haven’t set myself a target on how many miles I think I’ll be able to do but hopefully this will really help me with my running miles target as that’s the one I’m most worried about hitting before the year is out.
