It’s been a while since I last posted on here proper. It’s been both a mad and a lazy couple of months since the Bath half marathon, if that makes any sense?
On the one hand it seems like Shelli and I have had no time at all, always busy doing “things” – most recently around the house move – but not really feeling like we’ve had any time off – the long weekend in Venice feels like a lifetime ago already. On the other we’ve done little exercise since resting after the Bath half which is not good.
The exercise thing is bad and I feel really cheesed off with myself for letting it slip so badly. Not only for the fact that I’ve put a little weight on. but more for the fact that my miles for the year are a good 80 miles down on where they should be to hit my target of 2013 miles for the year.
So, it being the beginning of a new month already(?!) I’ve decided to kick-start it all off with a mini challenge for myself for the month of May.
For this mini challenge I’ll be making sure I do the following throughout this month:
- Run at least three times a week
- Go out for a walk at lunchtime at least three times a week
- Do at least 10 miles three times a week on the exercise bike
- Carry on with my plank-a-day challenge (I’m currently doing 2 min 25 s planks!)
I’m also very aware of the fact that all the worry around the house move is affecting me a bit. I’ve been stressed about the bank causing problems and I’ve just about had enough of paperwork to last me a lifetime! That’s before thinking about getting the house packed up around work and my weekends with the girls.
With that in mind I’m going to re-start my meditating each day. It’s only for 10 minutes a day but when I did it at the beginning of the year I really felt the benefit from doing it. So my aim is to do that every day this month to try and help with the stress of the move.
We’ve got the Bupa London 10K at the end of the month so getting the running back on track is definitely needed seeing as we’ve done hardly anything since getting over the finish line at the Bath Half at the beginning of March.
I’ll keep you posted on how I’m doing with this mini challenge as the month goes on.
